So like I thought before it is not a big deal to exchange the escs. The esc are seperate boards stacked into the power distribution board and they are only soldered there. Even there are spare escs available at banggood. So if you kill a esc it is no hassle to change see attached photos…
Eachine Racer 180 upgrade for more power
Hi guys,
My upgrade kit of the eachine racer 180 got a proof right now. 6″ slowflyer props, the new 90N servo and the new constructed arms offer much more than you can imagine. Today I did some testgflights with a 2200mAh lipo and the max flight time is 15:30 mins in hovering. Thats an awesome result for this tiny setup even the agility is much more improved.
I changed to betaflight with the same settings like the original cleanflight (thanks to Quad123456). I also changed the ESC´s to the newest blheli version (thanks to seby docky). The servo is exchanged to a much bigger one with metal gears providing more than 90N of force, less friction and more power to the pitch. The props are exchanged to 6″ slowflyer but with strenghtened props by fibreglass or carbonfibre there will be a higher efficiency and longer flight times possible. The pain for an easy upgrade will be the bigger servo so the sideplates of the eachine have to be modded by cnc milling. I will do a flight video the next few days to get a proof of my setup for all the haters out there ;-).
stay tuned…
eachine racer 180 and the crash
Ok guys to keep you up the news about my eachine racer 180 I have to tell a short story.
After 2 short flight sessions I decided to upgrade this little beast. From now on I will call it „Fotzie“ due to a figure of speach of my friend Florian. Remind his UAV is from now on called Fick (hahaha). The last few days I put in lot of constructing to get bigger props installed because the 4x45x3″ props are completely inefficient. I decided to longer the arms to fit longer props but the biggest props which will fit on this frame will be even with longer arms 5″ due to the distance of the arms (measured from front to back). Another friend Jochen brought me to a solution to fit 6″ props. He said bend the arms (which is not possible with carbon tubes) but the solution was quiet easy. The Mounting plates take the motors now out of the middle of the tubes. The offset is not much but… ( I will come back later to the but…).
I constructed the new arms with the drawings in my head and voila it is possible to fit 6″ on the fotzie. Stock there are only maybe 4-5min flighttimes possible which is not acceptable for this size of quad. I endend up with this setup.
Eachine Racer 180 unboxing
see the following unboxing reviews of the Eachine Racer 180. One came from my feather the other from Florian who ordered together with me.
