Adidas – grilled chicken foot
Here is another excursion for exotic food you can get in the Philippines it is called Adidas barbecue. It is a chicken foot. The nails are already cut off and it will be marinaded and grilled. There is not much meat on it. So i would call it much more a snack or fingerfood. You have to bite the parts off and clean the bones.
Christmas in the Philippines
There are different kinds of christmas celebrations in the world. Here in the Philippine islands Christmas starts at midnight from 24. to 25. December. The whole day of 24. December the people preparing everything for the most important event of the year. In my special case there is a big pot of Spaghetti Bolognese in pinoy style. Further there will be served some of the best parts of tuna meat, salad, rice and special kind of cakes.
The religious people will go on the evening to a church or chapel for having a mass. After the real party starts with exchanging presents having food with the whole family members and much alcoholic drinks…
I am excited what will happen. Even christmas trees belong to this celebration like you can see in the following photo.
At midnight there are everywhere fireworks like most people know from new years eve.

Balot – Chicken in an egg
There are some weird foods in Asia, everybody knows that. One of this is called Balot and is used to be a national food in the Philippines. It’s an egg with a chicken embryo inside. There are different kind of Balot around so the time the eggs have to lay around to get Balot are from 6 until 30 days. I tried one with 17days. The eggs get steam boiled and thats it. First step is to open the egg. Then slurp out the juice. After there is a dark part. Maybe this will get later the head. This one you have to slurp out again, its like jelly. Then at last there is the white part of the egg. This is partly soft partly hard like a boiled egg the most people know it already. It tastes a little bit like egg and smells little bit like chicken. I know this is not for everyone enjoyable but the pinoy believe it’s good for health. Some people here say it powers the body like coffee or redbull. For spicing it up you additionally use salt on it.
